Xhorse Copy GM 2021+ ID49 Smart Key using XM38

Here we share an interesting feature of xhorse vvdi key tool (key tool max, key tool max pro, key tool plus).  Now you can clone/copy 2021+ GM shark fin style proximity keys using Xhorse XM38 smart key without connecting to OBD of the car !!!

Credit to Legacy Locksmith.

3rd party programmers no longer read the rolling code for 2021+ GM CAN FD vehicles. These keys usually require the Acdelco SPS2 programming and need to buy subscriptions.

We are just going to add a key without connecting to the car.

It is a big game changer for all of us when you are adding those kind of keys.

Here is an example.

It is a Tahoe 2022 with keylessgo ID49 proximity.  It has the original key and 1 working key (It is an Autel ikey universal key programmed by SPS previously).

We will need the Xhorse XM38 universal smart key (here use XSCH01EN Chrysler style XM38 smart key).
We are going to generate the right key with the ID49.

Take PCB of original key or the Autel ikey.  Take the PCB out so you have it without battery.

Do the same procedure with the OEM fin key or aftermarket universal key i.e Autel without the battery. Autel was easier to open.

Go to Special Function-> Copy Proximity Remote-> ID49 (Buick/Chevrolet/Cadillac/GMC).

This is how you add a key on those shark fin style key without connecting even to the OBD of the car. Cuts time and saves money. No dealer tools are needed.

The old key will keep working exactly the same. It doesn’t interfere. It’s just basically become a clone of that key.

You can buy the XM38 Cadillac style, which is pretty close and it’s all depends on you and if the customer wants the original, then you use the dealer tool and it is what it is.
